Our Story

Antwain Lee and Glenn Merrill opened their first restaurant in 1999 in Chicago, Illinois. In 2001, they expanded to the Northern Suburbs of Illinois, where they opened several more restaurants. They brought their tradition of southern hospitality accompanied by mouthwatering soul food to the Lake County area.

Antwain is the Executive Chef for Mama’s Southern Style. He graduated at the top of his class at Triton’s Culinary School in Chicago. He is attuned to the changing tastes and trends in food and presentation.

He specializes in a variety of cuisines and can create many exquisite menus to fit any taste.

Glenn is the General Manager for Mama’s Southern Style. He is also an excellent cook who specializes in American Comfort Food and Barbecue. He comes from a rich family tradition of restaurant owners, cooks and caterers. He stays abreast of the many changing aspects and cultures of the food industry.

Mama’s Southern Style is a full-service catering company, which includes planning and event management for corporate, social gatherings and family events. Mama’s Southern Style service events from the upscale wedding reception to the backyard family barbecue. Mama’s Southern Style incorporates exceptional food, creativity and presentation with outstanding service.

We are now introducing our Signature Line of Sauces, which includes BARBECUE, HOT and JERK.

The demand was so overwhelming at our many events and functions, that
we decided to present them to the world. These sauces were conceived over

many years of hard work and dedication.
